Design Concept for Awards

Here at MijMoj we love working on different projects, so when the chance to present a concept for the upcoming 30th awards for the ‘Arts & Business Cymru’ ceremony was advertised, we took the opportunity to sharpen our pencils and crayons and get down to some different design work and develop a concept for the project.

The design proposal prototyped included using a combination of materials sourced from Wales, including a solid oak main body contrasting against the glass central spine. The combination of materials was to reflect the difference between business and art, but also the close relationship required by the two to help projects flourish and thrive, with one embodying the other, as reflected by the oak either side, embracing the glass.
The angled glass would have the Arts & Business Cymru logo engraved on the central glass spine (Acrylic used for prototyping purposes only). The angled ridge is to represent the Welsh mountains which has inspired so many of the Arts over the years and even referenced in our National anthem Hen Wald Fy Nhadau: ~ “Hen Gymru fynyddig paradwys y bardd” but also how many businesses and artist are on the constant mission to climb the metaphoric mountain, to grow and reach the top of their field. The slope of the award is at 30 degrees, as a subtle reference to the 30 years of the awards and could also be engraved on side of the trophy.

Our submission was not successful this time but received positive feedback from Rachel Jones (Chief Executive) Arts & Business Cymru:

We loved working on the awards and coming up with a concept for the project.
