Wrexham Lager – Oak Bar Stool Collaboration: Charity Auction

Wrexham Lager and MijMoj Design have collaborated to create a unique, limited-edition bar stool—designed as a tribute to Wrexham’s rich heritage and inspired by the 2025 Eisteddfod Bardic Chair. The piece will be auctioned in support of Nightingale House Hospice at their 30th Anniversary Ball in September.

Crafted in the same workshop by MijMoj Design, the bar stool draws direct inspiration from the ceremonial Bardic Chair, which they also designed and made for this year’s National Eisteddfod of Wales hosted by Wrexham. While the Bardic Chair honours the winning poet of the awdl competition, the bar stool offers a more casual, everyday celebration of local identity—blending storytelling, craftsmanship, and contemporary design.

The bar stool incorporates a number of meaningful details:

• It is made from the same sustainably sourced, Wrexham-grown Welsh oak as the Bardic Chair, using offcuts and leftover timber from the build, supplied by Erddig.
• The stool stands on three legs, symbolising Wrexham Lager’s three signature brews. Each leg is engraved with one of the brewery’s beautifully crafted logos.
• It pays tribute to the Gresford Colliery Memorial, honouring and reflecting the area’s mining heritage.
• The arch on the front leg is inspired by the elegant curve of the Froncysyllte Aqueduct—a world-famous feat of engineering.
• The shape of the stool’s backrest mirrors the silhouette of the Wrexham AFC stadium stand, in homage to the town’s proud football legacy.
• A subtle three-dot American black walnut inlay on the rear back support celebrates the club’s remarkable back-to-back-to-back promotions. It also symbolises the transformative impact of the club’s new ownership and its positive influence on the wider Wrexham community.

What began as a prestigious poetic tradition in the form of the Bardic Chair has evolved into a collaborative creation between Wrexham Lager and MijMoj Design—a distinctive piece of everyday furniture that unites poetry, place, football, and brewing in one refined design. This bar stool is both a functional keepsake and a proud symbol of Wrexham’s layered identity.
